FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
LAKE FOREST, CA – In late 2006, Jonathan Formica started on a journey to tell the story of Mrs. Sharon Browne and her children diagnosed with the rare and fatal disorder, Muccopolysaccharidoses (MPS). “Courage," which was originally planned as a short film produced in association with the Orange County High School of the Arts (OCHSA) was then accepted to the 2007 Newport Beach Film Festival. It received great attention from families around the world affected with the horrible disorder. After the comments of many, Formica is pleased to continue his work with these courageous people and to tell the stories of the courageous children and young adults with MPS.
On Friday, May 30, 2008, an updated pilot will screen at the Orange County High School of the Arts' Cineplex in Orange, CA. This is leading up to the final and full length version which will premiere at Chapman University's beautiful Folino theatre in Orange, CA on Saturday, January 10, 2009. All profits raised from this event will go directly back to the National MPS Society. Specifics cannot be released at this time, however www.couragemovie.com will serve as the main portal for official, up to the minute information.

MPS is a rare disease with no known cure that’s caused by the body's inability to produce specific enzymes. As a result, cells do not perform properly and may cause progressive damage throughout the body. Affected children often have mental retardation, short stature, incontinence, speech and hearing impairment, heart disease, hyperactivity, depression and a dramatically shortened life span.
Jonathan Formica, 17, lives in southern California where he began his film studies at age 12 when he was accepted into the Film and Television conservatory at the Orange County High School of the Arts (OCHSA). Now a Senior, he produces the daily live news program for the school titled the “Art Attack Live.” Formica has taken various courses in film including Cinematography in which he shot an award winning spoof for a popular water gun on 16mm film with his friend and fellow classmate. On the side, he owns and operates JDigital Computer Services.
